Business Benefits of Sustainability You Can Learn to Get

Sustainability as an after-thought to aid in “doing less bad” is no longer a viable option in the business world.  Sustainability leaders believe that the management-driven command and control approach to solving complex sustainability challenges is an inefficient way to tackle the issues.

Enter Core Business Integration of Sustainability (CBI-S). CBI-S provides leaders with a methodology for placing sustainability in the center of the organization. The idea is to reap the benefits of getting the whole organization to embrace sustainability thinking. What are those benefits? Greater levels of  “employee engagement, organizational agility, change-capability, and innovation.” Those things drive collaboration, transformation and success.

Harvard’s Center for Health and the global Environment at the Harvard T.H Chan School of Public Health in collaboration with the U.S. Green Building Council has developed an intensive, 40 day Executive Education for Sustainability Leadership program. The program addresses the core components of CBI-S and educates senior executives and sustainability managers on how to engage in more sustainable practices and drive organizational transformation.
