The Global Sourcing Council (GSC) helps businesses and communities align their organizational goals with the United Nation’s 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDG). In September 2016, GSC launched a pledge campaign called the Half-Billion Dollars Challenge for the global sourcing community to allocate US $500,000,000 to turn their supply chains into environmentally and socially responsible value chains.

The end of the one-year timeframe within which to make a pledge to meet the Challenge is approaching. To further support the Challenge and promote business engagement with the SDGs, GSC is refreshing its initiative from last fall and will be covering one SDG each week, for the next 17 weeks, with examples of how businesses are engaging in activities that will help the world achieve the ambitious SDGs by 2030.

The purpose of this new campaign is to encourage companies to take the pledge to work on transforming into responsible global enterprises. Overall, taking the GSC pledge and becoming part of the SDGs initiative will show leadership and help educate and inspire other companies in sustainable sourcing, supply chain management, and procurement.
